| 9/28/09 - Devicescape announced that it has developed an automated hotspot login
application, called Wi2 Connect, for Wire and Wireless (Wi2), a leading
Japanese Wi-Fi service
provider . Wi2 Connect is based upon Devicescape's Easy
Wi-Fi technology. Wi2 Connect allows Wi2's customers to automatically
connect to the hotspots of Wi2 and its roaming partners without the
inconvenience of entering user IDs and passwords in a browser. The Wi2
Connect application is available from the Wi2 Website for Windows Mobile,
Windows laptops, iPhones and MacBooks.
"We wanted to provide the best possible Wi-Fi experience to our smart
device customers that use Windows Mobile, Windows laptop, iPhones and
MacBooks, and that included simple, seamless connectivity to hotspots,"
said Naoto Komatsu, General Manager of Technology Division, Wi2. "We chose
Devicescape as a partner to deliver an Easy Wi-Fi application. Now our
customers can enjoy one-click connectivity to our more than 6,700 Wi-Fi
hotspots."
Wi2 is the latest service provider to take advantage of Devicescape's
"Locked Easy Wi-Fi" program, which customizes the Easy Wi-Fi client
application for a service provider's own network footprint and brand. The
locked Easy Wi-Fi application automates access to the network and roaming
partners of Wi2, providing a hassle-free experience for Wi2's customers.
"Devicescape is committed to delivering easy and secure access to Wi-Fi
networks around the world. By partnering with leading service providers
such as Wi2, we simplify access to hotspots all over Japan, including major
airports, train stations, restaurants, cafes, hotels and municipal centers
such as Tokyo's Marunouchi district," said Eric Gold, vice
president of sales at Devicescape .
Devicescape can
create locked Easy Wi-Fi applications quickly for most smartphone and
PC platforms, including Symbian S60, Windows and Apple iPhone OS. The
applications can be branded to meet the needs of the service provider and
distributed to end users through embedding it in devices or online thorough
Web sites and App Stores.
