| 12/8/09 - D-Link announced that
AirMagnet has joined the D-Link Global
Alliance Program (GAP) as a Solution Partner. GAP, launched earlier this
year, is a formalized framework designed for both D-Link and its partners
to share strengths and enhance each other's product offerings.
The small and medium-sized business and enterprise markets for wireless are
growing fast as organizations increasingly replace or extend wired networks
with wireless infrastructure. Until now, there has been a lack of tools to
help effectively deploy a secure and reliable WLAN at business sites. This
partnership allows D-Link to leverage AirMagnet's security and performance
expertise to empower its reseller and end-user communities to deploy and
manage business-critical wireless networks.
AirMagnet, now a part of Fluke Networks, will make its WLAN security and
management products available to D-Link resellers. These products include
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer, AirMagnet Survey and AirMagnet Planner (available
as a standalone version and also built into Survey PRO) for complete
lifecycle management of WLAN environments.
AirMagnet Planner currently supports antenna patterns for a number of
business-class D-Link access points and optional antennas to help simplify
WLAN planning and modeling with D-Link devices. D-Link's most popular
access points offer network administrators greater versatility with such
features as detachable dual-band antennas, plenum-rated metal chassis, fire
code compliance, Power over Ethernet support, the latest encryption
standards for security, multiple operation modes and several management
tools. AirMagnet also plans to certify and support the D-Link Xtreme N®
Dual Band USB Adapter (DWA-160)* to be used with AirMagnet's
industry-leading WiFi Analyzer and Survey products by the end of the year.
"With more businesses migrating to wireless, there's not only a large
demand for wireless hardware, but also for the management software that
helps optimize performance and ensure security. This partnership provides
an unmatched solution set for WLAN deployment and management," said Dean
Au, vice president and general manager for AirMagnet. "We're excited to be
a member of GAP and look forward to working with D-Link and its reseller
community to meet the demands of businesses around the world."
GAP provides members with a wealth of resources and support programs that
facilitate the development and interoperability of their products and
solutions with those from D-Link. D-Link's GAP classifies members into
three different levels (Strategic, Solution, and Technology Partners),
depending on the extent of need for collaboration and interoperability with
D-Link's solutions. The program furthers D-Link's unique approach to and
vision for open, interoperable solutions and best-of-breed innovation to
provide customers with differentiated solutions to help manage their
businesses.
"D-Link understands the need to be on the cutting edge of technology,
that's why we developed this program. AirMagnet is a leader in the WLAN
security planning and management space, and therefore a perfect fit for the
program," said AJ Wang, chief technology officer, D-Link. "We look forward
to co-developing and marketing these innovative solutions to the small to
medium business and enterprise communities."
